Scholarship Programs Support Children of Vets

Two of our funded charities provide exceptional scholarship and support for children of veterans and active duty families. The Fisher House Foundation just announced an additional $1 Million in scholarships for nearly 700 students that will be awarded this summer. Similarly, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) provides assistance to the children and spouses of fallen warriors from the time they join the SOWF family.

SOWF provides for, or identifies funding for, the full cost of a public college education: tuition, fees, room, board, books, and supplies. Scholarships offered are grants, not loans, and can be used in private universities, state or community colleges, and vocational-technical training and career institutions. The foundation assists Special Operations Forces (SOF) families in furthering their children’s education as well.

“To every single person who’s ever given or raised a dollar for this organization, I can never say ‘thank you’ enough. Without the caring support of these people, no way would this be possible.” — Derrick Rodriguez

Derrick graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2005. He is a Warrant Officer in the U. S. Army, where he flies helicopters. He is the son of Army Master Sgt. Eloy Rodriguez, a Special Forces medic who lost his life in a helicopter crash in 1991.
